The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has notified the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Dealing in Energy Savings Certificates) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2022. The notification was issued on 7th December, 2022. The Regulations are intended to further amend the CERC (Terms and Conditions for Dealing in Energy Savings Certificates) Regulations, 2016. These regulations shall come into force on the date of their notification, i.e. 7th December, 2022.
The Amendment Regulations insert the following provisions:
- Definition of Floor Price
Floor price has been defined as “the minimum price at which the Energy Savings Certificate shall be traded on the power exchanges.”
2. Rate of floor price for the trading of Energy Savings Certificates
The floor price for the trading of Energy Savings Certificates shall be fixed at ten percent of the price of one metric tonne of oil equivalent of energy consumed as may be notified by the Central Government for every Perform, Achieve and Trade Cycle.
