Central Electricity Authority Seeks Input on Renewable Energy Capacity Credit Calculations

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has released a draft Discussion Paper on Methodology for Capacity Credit of Generation Resources & Coincident Peak Requirement of Utilities under Resource Adequacy Framework. This draft discussion paper was issued on October 18, 2024.

Capacity Credit for Grid Stability

The paper, published in line with the Ministry of Power’s Resource Adequacy framework guidelines, emphasizes the importance of accurate capacity credit calculations for grid stability and future energy planning.

The paper aims to establish a standardized approach for utilities to assess the capacity credit of their renewable energy resources.

It also guides utilities in determining their coincident peak requirements during national peak demand periods.

Concerned stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments and suggestions on the draft paper before November 4, 2024. Submissions can be emailed to ceirpcea@nic.in.
