The Central Electricity Authority has issued the Central Electricity Authority (Flexible Operation of Coal based Thermal Power Generating Units) Regulations, 2023. These regulations were issued on 30th January, 2023 and are effective from the same date.
The regulations will apply to all coal based thermal power generating units owned or under the control of the Central Government, State Governments, or owned by any private company, connected with the grid and to the load despatch center.
The regulations provide for the following:
- General requirements
- Flexible operation of coal based thermal power generating units
- Minimum power level capabilities of coal based thermal power generating units for flexible operation.
- Ramp rates capabilities of coal based thermal power generating units for flexible operation.
- Relaxation of regulations.
