CDSCO Publishes Not Of Standard Quality And Spurious Alert For December 2024

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has published three lists of products declared as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) and Spurious for November 2024. All these three lists were published on December 27, 2024.

These lists are as follows:

  1. Dugs analyzed by CDSCO/ central laboratories, and
  2. Drugs that have been analyzed by state laboratories

Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) drugs refer to drugs that fail to meet quality standards or specifications. The term ‘standards of quality’ is defined in the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, to mean that the drug complies with the standards set out in the Second Schedule of the said Act.

Central Laboratories NSQ List of drugs/ products for December– 2024

The NSQ drug list for central CDSCO laboratories specifies a total of 51 drugs that were detected to be deficient.

Out of theses 51 NSQ drugs from CDSCO/Central Laboratories, 24 were reported by Central Drug Laboratory (CDL), Kolkata; 3 were reported by Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL), Chandigarh; 15 were reported by RDTL, Guwahati; 2 were reported by RDTL, Chennai; and 7 were reported by Central Drugs Testing Laboratory (CDTL), Mumbai.

State Laboratories NSQ List of drugs/ products for November – 2024

The NSQ drug list specifies a total of 84 drugs that were detected to be deficient by the state laboratories.

Out of these 84 drugs, 1 was reported by Drug Testing Laboratory Srinagar (J&K) & MDTL Kathua (J&K); 1 was reported by DTL Srinagar (J&K); 1 was reported by CFDL Jammu (J&K); 7 were reported by State Lab, Drugs Control Laboratory, Telangana; 7 by State lab (Puducherry); 1 by State Drugs Testing Laboratory, Agartala, Tripura; 1 by CDL Kandaghat; 35 by RDTL Chandigarh; 6 was reported by King Institute of Preventive Medicine & Research, Guindy, Chennai-32; 11 was reported by Drugs Testing Laboratory, Madurai-19; 28 were reported by Drugs Testing Laboratory, Chennai-6, 12 was reported by Karnataka and 8 were reported by Drugs Testing Laboratory Thiruvananthapuram.

It is pertinent to note that CDSCO did not receive NSQ data as per Format & in EXCEL SHEET State Drugs Licensing Authorities of Jammu Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, Telangana, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Tripura, Ladakh, Karnataka. . Further NSQ data was received from West Bengal, Goa as NIL. However, data was not received as per format in Excel Sheet from Assam (PDF Format),Rajasthan (PDF Format), Jharkhand (PDF Format),Mizoram (PDF Format).

However, the State Drugs Licensing Authorities of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Andaman & Nicobar, Dadar and Nagar Haveli; Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep have not submitted any data in respect of the Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) Alert for the Month of December, 2024.
