The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has published two lists of drugs declared as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) for May 2024. One list comprises of drugs that have been analyzed by state laboratories and the second list enumerates drugs analyzed by CDSCO/ central laboratories. Both these lists were published on June 20, 2024.
State Laboratories NSQ List of drugs/ medical device/ cosmetics for May – 2024
The NSQ drug list specifies a total of 13 drugs that were detected to be deficient by the state laboratories. Out of these 13 drugs, 8 were declared to be not of standard quality and the remaining 5 were misbranded.
All of these 13 drugs were reported by State Lab Drugs Control Laboratory, Telangana.
It is pertinent to note that CDSCO did not receive NSQ data as per Format & in EXCEL SHEET from State Drugs Licensing Authorities of Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala for the Month of May, 2024. Additionally, CDSCO observed that the NSQ data provided by Jammu & Kashmir did not accurately mention Manufacturing Date and Expiry Date. Furthermore, the state of Kerala did not specify expiry dates for the drugs its data.
Moreover, the state Drugs Licensing Authorities of Goa have stated that the NSQ data as “NIL” for the Month of May, 2024.
However, the State Drugs Licensing Authorities of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar, Dadar and Nagar Haveli; Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep have not submitted any data in respect of the
Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) Alert for the Month of May, 2024.
Central Laboratories NSQ List of drugs/ medical device/ cosmetics for May – 2024
The NSQ drug list for central CDSCO laboratories specifies a total of 39 drugs that were detected to be deficient.
Out of the 39 NSQ drugs from CDSCO/Central Laboratories, 22 were reported by Central Drug Laboratory (CDL), Kolkata; 5 were reported by Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL), Chandigarh; 6 were reported by RDTL, Guwahati; 2 were reported by Central Drugs Testing Laboratory (CDTL), Mumbai and 3 were reported by CDTL, Hyderabad.
