The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs vide notification dated 17.05.2024 has mandated importers of base oil/ Lubrication oil/ Used oil to meet EPR obligation under Hazardous and Other Waste (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2023. They shall submit an undertaking to commissioner of customs to comply with the provisions for Extended Producer Responsibility under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2023.
The producers and importers shall obtain EPR Registration certificate under said rules within 30 days from the date of launch of the EPR portal for registration by CPCB.
