The Central Board of Direct Taxes vide notification dated September 25, 2020 has published the Faceless Appeal Scheme, 2020. The Board will set up a National Faceless Appeal Centers, Regional Faceless Appeal Centers and Appellate Authority to facilitate the conduct of e-proceedings in a centralized manner. The scheme also provides the penalties, procedure for assessment, appeal and rectification proceedings.
Previously, the GST rate was set at “half per cent” (0.5%). The recent amendment changes this to “0.25 per cent” (a quarter percent).
