Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2024

The amendment rules have inserted three new rules, numbered 21, 22 and 23. The prior rule 21 has been re-numbered as 24. These rules seek to address various aspects of power generation, transmission, and open access charges. These amendments aim to streamline the power sector, encourage investments, and enhance operational efficiency.

Draft JERC (Procurement of Renewable Energy) (Fifth Amendment) Regulations, 2024

The draft regulations outline several key amendments, including changes to definitions, renewable purchase obligations, and mechanisms for meeting renewable energy targets. Specific amendments include the substitution of regulations related to renewable energy certificates, changes to renewable purchase obligation targets for different types of renewable energy sources, and provisions for meeting obligations through various methods such as own generation, open access procurement, requisition from distribution licensees, and purchase of renewable energy certificates.

Extension of Deadline for Quality Control Compliance in Solar Photovoltaic Inverters

Considering factors such as the availability of test facilities for limited capacities and the need to provide additional time for compliance, the Central Government has decided to extend the implementation of the Quality Control Order (QCO), 2017, for SPV inverters with a capacity exceeding 100 kW (>100 kW). The new deadline for compliance is now December 31, 2024, or until further orders, based on self-certification.
