The Central Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2022.

An electronic application by the registered vehicle scrapping facility, for the cancellation of certificate of registration, shall be made on the portal to any registering authority of the state in which the vehicle is currently registered, in Form 25A, accompanied by “no dues” for vehicle scrapping and the Certificate of Deposit issued in Form 2 under the Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021.

The Central Motor Vehicles (fifth Amendment) Rules, 2022.

The Amendment has mandated the procedure for detailed investigation of road accidents, the Detailed Accident Report (DAR) and its reporting, along with timelines for different stakeholders, for quick settlements of claims by the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal.

Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2022

The amendment has provided that validity of fitness certificate (in format DD-MM-YYYY) and registration mark of the motor vehicle shall be exhibited on the vehicles. In case of heavy goods / passenger vehicles, medium goods/ passenger vehicles, and light motor vehicles, it shall be exhibited on the upper edge of the left side of the wind screen in yellow colour on blue background in Type Arial Bold Script.

Central Motor Vehicles (Motor Vehicle Accident Fund) Rules, 2022

The Hit and Run Compensation Account shall be utilised for providing compensation to hit and run accident victims, and reimbursement of claim amount raised by the Hospital for cashless
treatment of hit and run motor accident victims, as per scheme framed under section 162, to the Account for Uninsured Vehicles or Hit and Run Motor Accident in accordance with this rule.

Compulsory insurance for every road user in India

The Amendment introduces compulsory insurance which will be available for every road user in India. It will be utilized for treatment of people injured in road accidents as per the golden hour scheme.

The Central Motor Vehicles (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2022.

MoHFW has published the Central Motor Vehicles (Fourth Amendment) to amend Rule 93 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 whereby rigid vehicles and trailers can have a maximum of three decks to transport two wheelers, with the load body not projecting over the driver’s cabin.
