Measures for encouraging 5G innovation

The programme, supported by a ₹1.5 crore budget, covers seed funding, IPR assistance, mentorship, and operational costs. It aims at developing over 50 scalable 5G prototypes, generate 25+ patents, strengthen academia-industry-government collaboration, and support startup creation. Key dates include submission of proposals from 15 March-15 April 2025, announcement of final winners on 01 October 2025, and a rigorous timeline ensuring milestones are met through bi-weekly progress reports and a centralised tracking dashboard.

Online scams and spam: DoT campaign with Whatsapp

Department of Telecommunications (DoT) collaborates with WhatsApp to extend ‘Scam Se Bacho,’ Meta’s safety campaign against online scams and spam. As part of the collaboration, DoT and WhatsApp will work together to educate citizens on identifying & reporting suspected fraud communications in an effort to enhance digital safety and awareness.

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) 2.0, which is a one stop centre for easy and hassle-free resolution of consumer grievances at free of cost has seen rapid growth, and now we anticipate for NCH 3.0 aiming to reduce resolution time from 45 to 7 days, the Secretary said. To ensure product quality, the Bureau of Indian Standards and Legal Metrology regularly conducts market surveys, promoting the availability of high-quality products for consumers.
