The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has revised certain standards on Thoracic Surgery Instruments And Dentistry. These notifications were published on June 26, 2024. All these standards were established on June 6, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from September 6, 2024.

Guidelines For Withdrawal of Life Support In Terminally Ill Patients

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) has issued new guidelines for healthcare providers on withdrawing or withholding life support in terminally ill patients. These guidelines will be available in the public domain for public comments for a period of 1 month.

Referral Policy For Hospitals in Delhi NCR

The policy discourages unnecessary transfers between tertiary hospitals. Resuscitation and first-aid are mandatory before referral. Terminally ill or brain-dead patients are generally not referred unless organ transplantation is a possibility, following patient counseling.

Medical Termination of Pregnancy Rules Updated With Inclusive Terminology

The amendment notification has modified the term “mental retardation” for a more inclusive term of “women with intellectual disability”. The updated terminology aligns with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, promoting person-centered language that respects the dignity of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

NPPA Approves 15% Price Increase for Ciprofloxacin Injection by Aculife Healthcare

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has approved a 15% increase in the ceiling price of Ciprofloxacin Injection 200mg/100ml for M/s Aculife Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., due to the special features of their packaging. The ceiling price has been fixed as Rs. 0.23/ ml (plus applicable Goods and Services Tax). Prices for all such formulations must be revised downward if they exceed the set ceiling price plus local taxes.

NPPA Revises Retail Prices for 54 New Drug Formulations

The retail price for these specified formulations must match the specified price. Manufacturers are required to submit a price list in Form–V via IPDMS to the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and provide copies to State Drug Controllers and dealers. Retailers and dealers must clearly display the price list provided by manufacturers to ensure it is easily accessible to customers.

Medical Device Exporters Can Now Get RCMCs From EEPC India

DGFT has noted that presently Export Promotion Council (EPC) for Medical Devices is not yet fully operational and cannot issue RCMCs. Therefore, it has temporarily allowed RCMCs for medical devices to be issued by the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC India) or any other relevant EPC for medical devices. This measure will operate until the designated EPC for medical devices becomes fully functional.
