NPPA extends price cap on liquid medical oxygen and oxygen inhalation up to March, 2022.

As per the earlier notification, medical oxygen’s price has been fixed at Rs. 15.22 per cubic meter (exclusive of GST) at manufactures’ end and its price at fillers’ end has been fixed at Rs. 25.71 per cubic meter, subject to transportation cost fixation at state level. Due to excess demand, delivery through cylinders has increased from 11% pre-Covid to 50% of current oxygen supply.

The Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021.

The Act prohibits commercial surrogacy and allows only altruistic surrogacy which involves no monetary compensation to the surrogate mother other than the medical expenses and insurance coverage during pregnancy.

The Medical Devices (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2021.

With effect from the date as may be specified by Central Government, a medical device, approved for manufacture for sale or distribution or import, shall bear unique device identification in the manner as may be determined.”

The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021.

Under the Act, every assisted reproductive technology (ART) clinic and bank must be registered under the National Registry of Banks and Clinics of India. The Registry is meant to act as a central database for all facilities providing ART services in India, with state governments appointing relevant authorities in their respective states to facilitate the registration process.
