NMC Requests Government Medical Colleges to Relieve Professors when Deputed on NMC Duty

The National Medical Commission (NMC) issues a Circular dated 29th November, 2022 that professors or associate professors of Government Medical Colleges are deputed as Assessors or Experts by NMC. This circular is addressed to all Government Medical Colleges. Whenever the NMC assigns duty to any Professor or Associate Professor, the Government medical colleges are requested to relieve them immediately.

NMC Publicises Fake Letter Issued in its Name

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a Public Notice highlighting a fake letter issued in its name. The letter states that “Avicenna International Medical University (Bishkek) is recognised by National Medical Commission and Indian students can study here to become a doctor”. The NMC categorically states that the above letter is fake and has not been issued by the National Medical Commission.

National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (Minimum Standard of Undergraduate Sowa-Rigpa Education) Regulations, 2022

. The Regulations govern the new graduation course Bachelor of Sowa-Rigpa Medicine and Surgery (B.S.R.M.S.), which shall produce Graduates, having profound knowledge of Sowa-Rigpa Medicine along with the contemporary advances in the field of Sowa-Rigpa Medicine supplemented with knowledge of scientific and technological advances in modern science and technology along with extensive practical training, as an efficient physicians and surgeons for the health care services.

The Drugs (Eighth Amendment) Rules, 2022.

The manufacturers of drug formulation products as specified in Schedule H2 shall print or affix Bar Code or Quick Response Code on its primary packaging label or, in case of inadequate space in primary package label, on the secondary package label that store data or information legible with software application to facilitate authentication.

Revised National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) 2022

If a tablet is included in the list, other oral solid dosage form such as capsule is considered as included. However, such different dosage forms should be considered differently for purposes of procurement policy, pricing etc. This principle also applies to all other dosage forms e.g. oral liquid dosage forms, injectables, topical dosage forms etc.

PCI clarification on status of Urdu Education Board

The Pharmacy Council of India vide circular dated 20 November, 2022 has clarified that the secondary school examination conducted and certificate granted by Urdu Education Board cannot be accepted for the purpose of admission tp pharmacy courses.
