National Nursing and Midwifery Commission
Act, 2023

The Act provides for regulation and maintenance of standards of education and services by nursing and midwifery professionals, assessment of institutions, maintenance of a National Register and State Registers and creation of a system to improve access, research and development and adoption of latest scientific advancement and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. This Act has come into force on 14th August, 2023.

Pharmacy (Amendment) Act, 2023

The Amendment Act inserts a new provision in the Pharmacy Act to allow the inclusions of pharmacists from Jammu and Kashmir. This Amendment Act was notified on 15th August, 2023.

Advisory/alert for lndian students seeking admission in foreign lnstitutes/Universities for Undergraduate Medical Courses

Therefore, all the students who are desirous to obtain the medical qualification from any foreign medical institutions or universities and thereafter practice allopathy in lndia, are hereby advised to ensure that all conditions prescribed in FMGL are fulfilled before taking admission. Any variation in duration, medium of instructions, syllabus, clinical training or internship/clerkship may lead to disqualification in grant of registration in lndia. ln case of disqualification, the sole responsibility shall lie upon the candidate only.

Update on E-Pharmacy Platforms

The draft Rules contain provisions for registration of e-pharmacy, periodic inspection of e-pharmacy, procedure for distribution or sale of drugs through e-pharmacy, prohibition of advertisement of drugs through e-pharmacy, complaint redressal mechanism, monitoring of e-pharmacy, etc.

District Mental Health Programme

Facilities made available under DMHP at the Community Health Centre(CHC) and Primary Health Centre(PHC) levels, include outpatient services, assessment, counselling/ psycho-social interventions, continuing care and support to persons with severe mental disorders, drugs, outreach services, ambulance services etc.

NHA extends Digital Health Incentives Scheme

Under the DHIS, the eligible health facilities and digital solutions companies shall be able to earn financial incentives of up to Rs. 4 crores based on the number of digital health records created and linked to ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers of the patients.

Central schemes for development of health centers and medical colleges

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is administering a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Establishment of new Medical Colleges attached with existing district/referral hospitals, hospitals with preference to underserved areas and aspirational districts, where there is no existing Government or private medical college.

Helpline and awareness programmes for organ donation

A website ‘www.notto.mohfw.gov.in’ with a 24×7 call centre having a toll-free helpline number (1800114770) to provide information, tele-counselling and to help in coordination for organ donation is launched.
