CDSCO Publishes Not Of Standard Quality And Spurious Alert For October 2024
The NSQ drug list specifies a total of 34 drugs that were detected to be deficient by State Lab Drugs Control Laboratories. The NSQ drug list for central CDSCO laboratories specifies a total of 56 drugs that were detected to be deficient. Additionally, CDSCO has also identified 3 drugs to be spurious.

Central Government Reconstitutes National Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board
The revised composition of the Board includes the Chairpersons of the States of Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana as ex-officio members. They will replace Chairpersons of the State/UT Boards of Andaman and Nicobar Island, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttarakhand in the Board.
Supreme Court Rejects Reference to Larger Bench on Medical Professionals and Consumer Protection Act
The Supreme Court of India has declined to refer its judgment which excluded legal professionals from the purview of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (CPA), to a larger bench. The bench held that the question of whether other professionals, besides legal professionals, should be covered under the CPA could be considered in future cases with relevant factual scenarios.

Government Mandates Centralized Registry for Tissue and Cornea Donation
The National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) has issued a directive to streamline tissue and cornea donation/retrieval/distribution across the country. All tissue transplant centers, cornea transplant centers, tissue banks, and eye banks must register with the National Registry maintained by NOTTO. Upon registration, hospitals should enter the details digitally in the NOTTO Registry and update the same regularly.
NOTTO Urges Hospitals to Create Permanent Transplant Coordinator Positions
NOTTO has urged states and hospitals to create permanent positions for transplant coordinators based on their workload by the next financial year. The NOTTO has observed a lack of initiative from states and institutions to create permanent positions for transplant coordinators. Therefore, starting from the next financial year (2025-26), hospitals exceeding the five-year support period under NOTP will no longer receive funding for transplant coordinators.
