Release Time for Consumer Price Index & Index of Industrial Production Revised
MoSPI has decided that CPI and IIP data will be released at 4:00 PM on the 12th of each month. If the 12th falls on a holiday, the release will be on the next working day for CPI and the previous working day for IIP. The new release time aligns with the closing hours of major financial markets in India. This ensures that the dissemination of CPI data does not disrupt active trading activity.
Revised Application of Hallmarking Standards for Gold Jewellery and Artefacts
The Central Government has issued a new order to amend the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artefacts Order, 2020. This amendment aims to further revise the list of states and districts to which the order will apply. The Order currently applies to 26 states in India.
Electrical Appliance For Domestic Clothes Washing (Quality Control) Order, 2024
The order states that washing machines must conform to the latest Indian Standard (IS) 302 (Part 2/Sec 7): 2010, which specifies safety requirements for domestic electric clothes washing machines. The order seeks to enhance the safety and quality of washing machines sold in the country.
New Guidelines for E-Waste Processing Capacity Determination For Recyclers
The processing capacity of an e-waste recycling facility will be determined based on the capacity of the maximum hourly capacity of installed machinery and equipment, considering a maximum of 20 hours of operation per day. SPCBs/PCCs will grant CTOs specifying the annual processing capacity in terms of the weight of e-waste that the facility can handle. Standalone dismantling facilities can be allowed, but the recycler must take responsibility for the flow of materials and report it in their annual return.
Strict Enforcement of GRAP in Delhi-NCR to Combat Air Pollution
Over 7,000 Construction and Demolition (C&D) sites were inspected, leading to penalties and closures for non-compliance. Approximately 1,400 industries were inspected, and actions were taken against violators. Around 1,300 DG sets were inspected, and non-compliant units were penalized.
