UGMEB issues New Guidelines for MBBS Course

The Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) has released a circular setting out comprehensive guidelines for the MBBS course in response to the recently published Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. The newly issued guidelines encompass various aspects of the MBBS course, aiming to enhance the quality of medical education and ensure the well-rounded development of future medical professionals.

UGC Committee recommends broad guiding principles to be adhered to specify the nomenclature of degrees

The degree nomenclature may be modified to be in sync with international norms. Accordingly, in case of specialisation or a major subject at the undergraduate level, the programme nomenclature on the degree certificate awarded to the students may also be written as “Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Science in specialisation”. For example, a Bachelor of Arts in Music may also be a free to offer interdisciplinary and innovative specialisation in these programmes.

Applications Open for Various Positions in the NMC

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has invited applications for the positions of Chairman, Secretary, and Member of the National Medical Commission (NMC), as well as President and Members of the Autonomous Boards of the NMC. The last date for receipt of applications is 30th June, 2023, no later than 4 pm Indian Standard Time.

UGC measures for Implementing the National Education Policy for Environmental Education

the University Grants Commission (UGC) has produced a document aimed at sensitizing students from diverse backgrounds about sustainable development goals and global environmental challenges. The document aims to enable students to appreciate the historical context of human interactions with the environment and gain insights into international efforts to safeguard the Earth’s environment and resources. Upon completing the program, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills to address environmental issues. The learning outcomes include appreciating the man-environment interaction, understanding environmental ethics, and grasping the concepts of natural resources, sustainable development, environmental issues, biodiversity conservation, pollution, and climate change.
