IIT Madras Targets Incubating 100 Start-Ups In 2024

Recognized as one of the top deep-tech start-up ecosystems in India, the IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC) is the institute’s umbrella body for nurturing, supporting, and overseeing various innovation and entrepreneurship projects. Sharing his targets for 2024, Director, IIT Madras, said, “IIT Madras saw a lot of ambitions realized during 2023. In the past year, we took up several important projects including IITM Zanzibar Campus, which became the first-ever IIT to be established overseas, launched a Department of Medical Sciences and Technology, and are aspiring to do many more things in this direction.”

FAQs For Institutions On PCI Digital Processes

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has observed that institutions utilizing the PCI Digital platform have encountered some common issues. Hence, the PCI has issued FAQs to provide solutions and assistance. These FAQs were published on January 2, 2024.

No Fees To Be Charged For Continuing Nursing Education

The INC has therefore categorically stated that SNRCs shall not charge any fees from either the nursing institutions conducting CNEs or from nurses. Additionally, the INC will launch a portal for uploading information by nursing institutions on the CNE. The SNRCs will be able to use the portal to check the CNE details of the nurses and renew their registrations.

Chief Minister of Goa attends Utkarsh Scholarship Programs

The company supported 69 meritorious deserving students in Goa who will now be able to pursue higher professional studies with support of Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship program. Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship is awarded to shortlisted students especially from the economically weaker background, meritorious and who have performed well in the academics in the last three years including extra-curricular activities. Finally, they are evaluated and selected based on one-on-one interviews.

UGC (Recognition of Colleges under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the UGC Act) Regulations, 2023

The University Grants Commission (UGC), in its continued effort to enhance the quality of higher education in India, has introduced the UGC (Recognition of Colleges under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the UGC Act) Regulations, 2023. The 2023 Regulations, set to come into force upon their publication in the Gazette of India, supersede previous guidelines in this domain. They apply to all colleges defined under Section 12A(1)(b) of the UGC Act, 1956, encompassing a broad spectrum of institutions offering undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D. programs, or Diploma courses.

To enhance student accessibility to SWAYAM Prabha, a new SMS/WhatsApp feature has been incorporated into the schedule. This functionality aims to efficiently communicate information about the schedule for various subjects. The SMS facility is backed by an Al engine operating on the SWAYAM Prabha portal, ensuring that information is structured and shared with students in an organized manner. The UGC sees this intervention as a means to further the objective of providing quality education in regions with limited digital or internet access.

National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Introduces New Regulations for Examinations

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine has introduced the “National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (National Examinations for Indian System of Medicine) Regulations, 2023.” These regulations aim to standardize and streamline the examination and admission processes within the Indian System of Medicine, ensuring a robust framework for education and practice in the field.

NMC Urges Action on Pending Applications for Eligibility Certificates

The NMC has identified applicants who have proceeded abroad without obtaining the requisite Eligibility Certificate. To rectify this, the EMRB is extending a 10-day grace period for these applicants to submit their applications through the NMC eligibility portal. Hence these applicants can submit their applications up till January 5, 2024.

The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has informed all concerned parties that the scheduled Public/Visitors meeting slated for the 27th of December, 2023, stands cancelled. This decision has been made due to the unavailability of officials who will be engaged in other official commitments on the specified date.
