Kerala – Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Rules
Amendment of the Rules.- In the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Rules, 1961, for the words “Labour Commissionerate Automated System”, wherever they occur, the words “Labour Commissionerate Automation System” shall be substituted. The Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1960 (34 of 1960) was amended by the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2021 (20 of 2021). Now, the Government has decided to amend the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Rules, 1961 suitably in accordance with the above said amendment after having published the draft rules calling for objections and suggestions as per notification dated 4th July, 2023 published in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.2223 dated 5th July, 2023.
BMC Cracks Down on Mumbai Shops for Not Displaying Marathi Signboards
Starting from Tuesday, 28th November, 2023, the BMC will take legal action against shops and establishments that fail to display Marathi signboards. In addition to prosecution, a penalty of ₹2000 per staffer per shop will be levied. The civic body has formed teams at the ward level to ensure effective enforcement. Offenders will face registration of an offense, and the BMC will report their violations to the Supreme Court.
The Registration (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2023
The present Amendment has sought the registration of any instrument or agreement relating to the deposit of title deeds (Equitable Mortgage), where such deposit has been made by way of security for the repayment of a loan or an existing or future debts. Further, the Amendment Bill also requires the registration of any certificate of sale granted to the purchaser of any property sold by public auction by a Civil or Revenue Officer or Civil Court or any authority, under law.
