TRAI releases Consultation Paper on “Auction of spectrum in the frequencies identified for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) / 5G.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has requested TRAI to provide recommendations on quantum of spectrum/band, if any, to be earmarked for private captive/isolated 5G networks, competitive/transparent method of allocation, and pricing, for meeting the spectrum requirements if captive 5G applications of industries for machine/plant automation purposes/Machine-toMachine (M2M) in premises.
Clarification on Import of wireless equipment by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) on the basis of self-declaration
Applicant shall submit all the relevant details on Saralsanchar Portal atleast 30 days in advance from the date of destination port entry. Applicant can immediately download a system generated certificate after online payment of fees of Rs. 500 and self-declaration.
TRAI to implement the new regulation policy from 1st April 2022.
The Distribution Platform Operators (DPOs) shall report to the Authority, Distribution Retails price of pay channels, composition of bouquet of pay channels/free-to-air channels and DRP of bouquets of pay channels as per the new regulatory framework 2020 by 31st January 2022.
Government of Goa adopts Start up Policy 2021.
As per the policy, all start-ups registered in Goa will be allowed to operate 24/7. An intimation from Startup Promotion Cell will be issued to the Panchayat and Local Bodies intimating them on the Certified Goa Startups to operate 24×7.
Ministry of Electronics releases FAQs to address queries on IT Rules, 2021.
Through this FAQ document, it has been clarified that the IT rules 2021 would benefit a general user, who is using any intermediary platform. These Rules specially provide for increased safety of users and also ensure accountability of intermediaries to the users.
Department of Telecommunications has amended the Unified License Agreement for Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR)
The amendment redefines the term Gross Revenue to include installation charges, late fees, sale proceeds of handsets (or any other terminal equipment etc.), revenue on account of interest, dividend, value added services, supplementary services, access or interconnection charges, roaming charges, revenue from permissible sharing of infrastructure and any other miscellaneous revenue, without any set-off for related item of expense, etc.
Ministry of Communication notifies PLI scheme for Promoting Telecom and Networking Products Manufacturing in India.
The scheme will be effective from 1st April, 2021. Investment made by successful applicants in India from 1st April, 2021 onwards and up to FY 2024-25 shall be eligible, subject to qualifying incremental annual thresholds. The support under the Scheme shall be provided for a period of five (5) years, i.e. from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26.
Revised penalty for default in payment of License fee under PMRTS License Agreement
PMRTS License Agreement is amended to relax penalty for delayed or short payment of license fee.
