Department of Telecommunication cautions Public about ongoing frauds on Mobile Tower Installation.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has informed that neither DoT nor TRAI is involved in leasing/renting the premises for installation of mobile towers. Also, DoT/TRAI or its officers do not issue any “No Objection Certificate” for the installation of mobile towers.
TRAI releases Consultation paper on Issues related to New Regulatory Framework for Broadcasting and Cable services.
According to the consultation paper, DPOs, local cable operators (LCOs) and consumer organisations approached TRAI highlighting the difficulties in implementation of the new tariff order. These included: price hike for consumers, change in the composition of offerings, the impact of easy availability of TV content on OTT (over the top platforms), issues in implementing these new rates in their systems and in migrating consumers to the new tariff regime etc.
TRAI extends the last date for receiving comments/counter-comments on Consultation Paper on “Rating of Buildings or Areas for Digital Connectivity”
The consultation paper highlights the importance of collaborative partnerships between all relevant stakeholders including the involvement of end-users in decision making processes at an early stage, in co-designing and co-creation of the digital connectivity infrastructure inside the building/society or area.

Data Centres, Virtual Private Server (VPS) providers, Cloud Service providers and Virtual Private Network Service (VPN Service) providers, shall be required to register the information regarding customers which must be maintained by them for a period of 5 years.
Advisory to all Private Satellite TV channels for adherence to Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995
The Government through the circular expresses serious concern about the manner in which the television channels have gone about their operations in the matter of transmitting content and are hereby strongly advised to immediately refrain from publishing and transmitting any content which is violative of the aforementioned provisions of The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and the rules thereunder.
TRAI extends the deadline for submission of comments/counter-comments on consultation paper regarding Use of Street furniture for small cell and aerial fiber deployment.
Based on the requests received from stakeholders for extension of time for submission of comments on the ground that paper is very extensive and requires more preparation time, it has been decided to extend the last date for submission of written comments and counter comments up to 11th May, 2022 and 25th May, 2022 respectively.
IFSCA recognizes mobile equipment used for ground handling, servicing or field maintenance of aircraft as financial product
Any piece of mobile equipment, whether or not powered or self-propelled, purpose designed built and used for ground handling, servicing or field maintenance of aircraft on the ramp area of an airport and equipment used for providing services necessary for ramp handling.
Central Identities Data Repository of UIDAI to be a protected system
Any computer resource which directly or indirectly affects the facility of Critical Information Infrastructure is a protected system. Any person who secures access or attempts to secure access to a protected system in contravention of the provisions of this section shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years and shall also be liable to fine.

The DOT, in order to give fillip to the 5G use case development program, it would facilitate necessary approvals/ regulatory clearances to enable Use case prototyping/pilots/Demos/ trials at the User or Vertical industry premises. Required experimental spectrum would also will be facilitated on priority basis.
