Ministry of Communications has extended the last date for submission of application under Design led Manufacturing scheme till 5th August 2022.
The Scheme is open to both MSME and Non-MSME Companies including Domestic and Global Companies. The applications from Design-led manufacturers shall be prioritized over other manufacturers while shortlisting. The Design Led Manufacturing is primarily aimed to support efforts for designing telecom products in India. It will recognize and encourage R&D-driven manufacturing in the country to enhance its contribution to global value chain as envisaged in the National Digital Communication Policy, 2018.
The Department of Telecom issues advisory to public on proper use of wireless jammer, booster.
Currently, only States/ UTs, Defence Forces, Central Police Organizations can procure (only models approved by Government of India) and use jammers. Examination conducting bodies under Union Government/ State Government/ Union Territory are also allowed to install jammers (from authorized vendors & approved models) after prior permission from competent authority.

Enterprises setting up private captive networks may obtain spectrum on lease from TSPs and establish their own isolated network. Alternatively, enterprises setting up private captive networks may obtain spectrum directly from DoT and establish their own isolated network.
MeitY extends timelines for enforcement of Cyber Security Directions till 25 September, 2022 for MSMEs and for the validation aspects of subscribers/customers details.
Based on the request for the extension of timelines MeitY and CERT-In has decided to provide extension till 25 September, 2022 to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in order to enable them to build capacity required for the implementation of the Cyber Security Directions.
MeitY invites feedbacks and comments on the Draft Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
The Draft Amendment has proposed to create an appellate body called ‘Grievance Appellate Committee’ under rule 3(3) of the IT Rules 2021 having regard to additional guidelines as may be prescribed by the Central Government. Users will have the option to appeal against the grievance redressal process of the intermediaries before this new appellate body. The Committee will endeavor to address the user’s appeal within a period of 30 days. This is made necessary because currently there is no appellate mechanism provided by intermediaries nor is there any credible self-regulatory mechanism in place.
MEITY authorizes personnel for accessing computer resources under Information Technology Act, 2000.
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has declared the computer resources relating to the Unified Payments Interface, Immediate Payment Service, and National Financial Switch, to be Critical Information Infrastructure of the National Payments Corporation of India, and the computer resources of its associated dependencies to be protected systems for the purpose of the said Act
Ministry of Communication amends the PLI Scheme to facilitate Design-Led Manufacturing with additional incentive rate of 1% over and above existing incentive rates.
For promoting design-led manufacturing, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is inviting applications from Design-led manufacturers as well as others, for availing incentive under the PLI Scheme for five years commencing from 1st April 2022.

For purposes of safety and trust, any non-personal data sharing by any entity can be only via platforms designated and authorised by IDMO (India Data Management Office)
Department of Telecommunication extends the time period of MoD clearance from present 6 months to 1 year.
Earlier telecom operators were required to seek clearance every six months for vessels and ships required for laying and maintaining undersea cables that are vital for internet and international telecom services. However in the interest of ease of doing business, DoT took up the case with MoD to extend period of their clearance from the present 6 months to 1 year.
