TRAI releases recommendations on ‘Licensing Framework for Establishing and Operating Satellite Earth Station Gateway (SESG).
There shall be a separate Satellite Earth Station Gateway (SESG) License under the Section 4 of Indian Telegraph Act. The SESG License will not form part of the Unified License (UL). The Service Area for the SESG License shall be at National Level.

After obtaining an In Principle Approval from DoT / Ministry of I & B, the operator shall submit the details about the network (viz. N/W proposal, space segment allocation from DoS, frequency plan, link engineering / budget along with link summary, technical specifications of all the equipment’s from antenna to baseband) and earth station under test (ESUT) details as per prescribed format.

The online application shall be processed from the view point of eligibility conditions, and shall be subjected to clearance and approval by the Department of Space and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
