43rd meeting of the Food Authority approves amendments to streamline Food Safety and Standards Regulations
Food businesses would not have to go to different authorities for mandatory certification with only FSSAI certification being made mandatory for food products. Other approvals include standards of Mead (Honey wine) and Alcoholic Ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, revision of standards of milk fat products, standards for Haleem etc.
FBOs allowed to use the word “ORS along with other prefix or suffix” as a whole
FBOs shall clearly state the disclaimer on the front of pack of the product i.e. “This is only a brand name or trademark, or fancy name and does not represent its true nature; (relevant one may be chosen as applicable)” in specified font size.
Continuation of Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund
The Union Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister, has approved the extension of the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) under the Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) for an additional three years until 2025-26. The scheme, with a budget of Rs.29,610.25 crore, aims to encourage investments in various sectors such as Dairy processing, Meat processing, Animal Feed Plants, Breed multiplication farms, Animal Waste to Wealth Management (Agriculture waste management), and Veterinary vaccine and drug production facilities.
FSSAI Updates List of Recognized Laboratories for Food Analysis
The list specifies a total of 217 FSSAI Notified NABL Accredited Food Testing Laboratories. Additionally the list also specified, 22 FSSAI notified laboratories whose NABL accreditation validity has expired or are under suspension or under process of denotification or have shifted premise without Integrated assessment.
