MoFPI notifies guidelines on Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Millet Based Products.
The tenure of the Scheme is five years from Financial Year 2022-23 to Financial Year 2026-27. The Incentive payable for a particular year will be due for payment in the following year. The Incentive payable for Financial Year 2026-27 will be due for payment in year 2027-28.
FSSAI operationalizes FSS (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2022 governing fortified rice kernel
The amendment provides that rice flour used for preparation of fortified rice kernel shall be white to off white powder. It shall be free flowing with characteristic odor and no off odor. It shall be free from foreign matter.

FSSAI notifies amendments to its earlier direction on the standards of the packaged drinking water.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, has decided to implement its earlier direction on the operationalization of Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives), Amendment Regulations regarding the standards of Packaged Drinking Water (other than Mineral Water) from 1st January 2023.
FSSAI operationalizes the standards for Crude Corn(Maize Oil) under draft FSS(Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2022
The amendment provides specific standards for crude solvent extracted corn maize oil. These standards are enforced to allow import of rude solvent extracted corn maize oil by FBOs as per the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2022.
Clove stem can be imported subject to FSS (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Regulation 2011
This clarification is issued considering the fact that clove stem is a potential adulterant in clove powder or masala powder.

FSSAI publishes Food Safety and Standards (Alcoholic Beverages) First Amendment Regulations, 2022.
Non-alcoholic counterpart of alcoholic beverage” means non-alcoholic beverage having alcohol content less than or equal to 0.5% alcohol by volume, which shall meet all the requirements of respective alcoholic beverage of origin except the ethyl alcohol content. Additionally, the alcoholic beverage of the origin must undergo the process of fermentation and the produced alcohol is removed thereafter.’
FSSAI notifies compliance with respect to provisions for Display of information for food service establishment’s FSS (Labelling and Display) Regulations 2020 for E-Commerce Food Business operators.
As per sub-regulation 9 of FSS (labelling and display) regulations 2020, the food service establishments having central license or outlets at 10 or more locations shall mention the calorific value against the food items displayed on the menu cards or boards or booklets and shall also provide information such as nutritional information, allergen information, ingredient information etc.
