FSSAI issues notification on instant modification of license in the existing license by manufacturers
This modification must be the form of addition and deletion of non-high-risk standardized food products. It is applicable only to existing license by manufacturers. Instant Modification of license will be available for the addition of any of the standardized food products under the Vegetable Oil and Processing Units KoB and General Manufacturing KoB. However, such a modification application will not be permitted for High-Risk Food Categories 01, 08, 09, 13 and 99.
FSSAI notifies the indicative list of HS Codes for which Health Certificates are mandated
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an indicative list of HS Codes. Additionally, concerned stakeholders are advised to ensure that they verify the applicability of listed HS Codes before applying for Health Certificate. The codes shall be in line with the food products specified under Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011. The Table provides the categories and sub-categories of the products, product description in brief and the risk category allotted to each product.
New Kind of Business (KoB) and inspection checklist for Fish and Fish Products under FoSCoS for License
The Authority has decided to introduce a new KoB for ‘Fish and Fish Products’. Accordingly, the inspection checklist, applicable to such manufacturers, to inspect these units on specified parameters, has been developed. This has come into the effect from December 18, 2022.
Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims) Second Amendment Regulations, 2022
Where the meaning of a trademark, brand name, or fancy name containing adjectives such as “natural”, “fresh”, “pure”, “original”, “traditional”, “authentic”, “genuine”, “real”, appearing in the labeling, presentation or advertising of a food is such that it is likely to mislead the consumer as to the nature of the food, in such cases a disclaimer shall be mentioned prominently on the front of the pack of the label.
Action taken report regarding the Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS)
Under the provisions of the DPCO, 2013, government have taken initiative to make online submission of data mandatory for all the pharmaceutical manufacturing / marketing companies under the DPCO, 2013 in the Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System (IPDMS).
List of FSSAI recognized and NABL accredited laboratories
FSSAI has issued issued the list of FSSAI recognized and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accredited laboratories. The circular has enlisted the laboratories, their contact details and their scope of testing.
Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Amendment Regulations, 2021
The enforcement of these regulations shall commence only after the final regulations are notified in the Gazette of India. Certain regulations were already enforced via previous notifications. The food business operators shall follow the entire regulations w.e.f 11.11.2022.
FSSAI issues order on Rectifiable labelling information for imported food consignments.
This rectification has to be carried out at Customs bound warehouses, before visual inspection or re-inspection by the Authorised Officer or his representative, by affixing a single non detachable sticker or by any other non-detachable method.
FSSAI issues clarification on sale of hemp seeds and seed products.
It has been clarified that the hemp seeds and seed products are standardized under sub-regulation 2.16 of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
The Dried Figs Grading and Marking (Draft) Rules, 2022.
The graded material of small pack sizes of the same lot or batch and grade may be packed in a master container with complete details thereon along with the Grade Designation Mark. Each package shall contain Dried Figs of the same type and of the same grade designation.
