FSSAI extends the Requirement of Health Certificates for Imported Food Consignments
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an additional order further extending the timeline for compliance with the requirement of the Health Certificate. The present order further extends the timeline for this compliance until further orders by the FSSAI.
FSSAI de-recognises and de-notifies in-house testing laboratories of FBOs
FSSAI has initiated the process of de-notification of all such laboratories. Accordingly, the Food Authority has de-notified the in-house laboratories of ‘M/s ITC Foods Pvt Ltd ’Agri Business Division – ILTD, Spices Laboratory, Guntur’ and ‘Nutralytica Research Private Limited, Nashik on 18th October, 2022.
FSSAI issues an updated list of Recognised Food Testing Laboratories
The present list includes the validity of the laboratories’ NABL accreditation, scope of testing as on 15th February, 2023 for the purpose of carrying out the analysis of food samples taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules and Regulations made there under.
List of FSSAI recognized laboratories for analysis of food samples
The recognition and validity shall be governed by the guidelines or orders issued by FSSAI from time to time.
Revised fee for initial application for FSSAI license
The revised application fee to be submitted by Food Business Operators to obtain the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India license shall be Rs. 1000 + GST.

The list includes information on the validity of the NABL accreditation, the scope of testing, the contact details of the laboratory, the name of the analyst and the certificate numbers of the laboratory.
FSSAI urges compliance with Standards for Non-Carbonated Water Based Beverage
The present notification urges all regional directors to scrutinise licences granted for Non-Carbonated Water Based Beverage (Non-Alcoholic). It has been reiterated that Non-Carbonated Water Based Beverage (Non-Alcoholic) containing water must conform to the standards prescribed for packaged drinking water or mineral water. These shall also contain specified ingredients solely or in combination.
DGFT amends Conditions of SION for Wheat Flour Export
The notification states that Advance Authorisation (AA) will be issued to flour millers. Exporters which have tie ups with flour millers will be issued AA as supporting manufacturers. Moreover, wheat flour (atta) can be exported only under the Advance Authorization Scheme. This is subject to the pre-import condition of wheat under the notified SION only.
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (Financial) Regulations, 2023
The regulations provide that the the Food Authority shall maintain the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Fund to further the objectives of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Additionally, there will also be a Finance Committee which will meet at least twice in a year or more frequently as may be required.
