Extension for filing FSSAI Annual Return for FY 2022-2023
All the food manufacturers (including manufacturer-exporters) and importers are required to submit annual return by 31st May of each year. The current notice has provided an relaxation in the timeline for submissions of annual returns for FY 2022-2023, up to 30th June, 2023.

FSSAI issues Protocol on Methods of Fortificant Testing for Rice
The entire sample must be ground into a homogenous mixture before weighing the sample for analysis. The remaining quantity of tested samples should be preserved for at least 3 months from the date of reporting. The samples shall be stored in refrigerators at temperatures of 5 to 10 degree celsius.
FSSAI to conduct PAN-India Milk & Milk Products Surveillance 2023
In order to sustain the mandate of providing safe & wholesome food for human consumption, the said survey will be initiated with an objective to assess the Milk & Milk products sold in the country for compliance of the quality and safety parameters as given in FSSR, to identify hotspots for adulteration in milk and milk products & to devise corrective actions/ strategies based on the results of the study and suggest a way forward.

New Scientific Committee of FSSAI to focus on sustainable food standards, new areas and challenges
The CEO emphasized the importance of being accountable to society and addressing questions and doubts related to food safety. He urged the Scientific Committee to be highly engaged and develop sustainable standards while also focusing on newer areas for healthier food options for future generations, and to work towards minimizing adulteration to ensure safe and nutritious food for all.

Advertisement Monitoring Committee of FSSAI has reported 32 fresh cases which have been found prima facie in contravention of the provisions of Food Safety and Standards (Advertisements & Claims) Regulations, 2018.
