Roundtable with Foreign Missions held to Foster International Participation in World Food India 2023
The purpose of the meeting was to engage in dialogue regarding overseas participation in the upcoming second edition of ‘World Food India 2023’ (WFI). WFI is scheduled to take place from 3rd to 5th November, 2023 at New Delhi. The event aims to showcase the Indian Food Processing Sector and attract collaborations and investments from global stakeholders.
Central Government reduces Basic Import Duty on Edible Oils
The decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to implement measures aimed at reducing the prices of Edible Oils in the domestic market. By lowering the Import Duty on Refined Sunflower Oil and Refined Soyabean Oil, the government aims to benefit consumers and ease domestic retail prices.
State Governments to continuously monitor the stock and prices of Tur and Urad
In the meeting, the state governments were asked to continuously monitor the prices and verify the stock positions of stock-holding entities and take strict action on those who violated the stock limits order.
FSSAI conducts ‘Nurturing Individual Potential and Unleashing Networking’(NIPUN)
NIPUN serves as a flagship Induction Training Programme for direct recruits of FSSAI. The program design involves three weeks of classroom training, followed by on-the-job exposure to the functioning of FSSAI at regional offices. It aims to sensitize the direct recruits to the paramount mandate of the apex food regulator.
The Government of Haryana amended Haryana Value Added Tax Act,2003
The amendment specifies that when liquor is sold under bar and pub licensees under license categories L-4, L-5, L-10C, L-10E, L-12C, L-12G, L-4A, L-12A-C, and L-10F, no Input Tax Credit (ITC) will be admissible to the dealers covered by this entry on the purchase of liquor. This means that the bar and pub licensees cannot claim tax credit on the liquor they purchase for their establishments.
FSSAI invites Applications for Internship starting in the month of July-2023
The internship program will be available throughout the year on a quarterly basis, with internships offered for a duration of up to 3 months, extendable to a maximum of 6 months. Interested and eligible students can apply online in the specified format as per the timelines provided by FSSAI. The last date for submitting online applications is 19th June, 2023.
FSSAI notifies Authorised Officers under FSS (Imports) Regulation, 2017
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an order notifying 3 Authorised Officers under FSS (Imports) Regulation, 2017. These officers are appointed for the purpose of clearance of imported food at specified food entry points.
5th State Food Safety Index on World Food Safety Day
The 5th SFSI evaluates the performance of states and union territories across six different aspects of food safety. The rankings for the year 2022-23 revealed that among the larger states, Kerala secured the top ranking, followed by Punjab and Tamil Nadu. Among the smaller states, Goa emerged as the leader, followed Manipur and Sikkim.
Punjab Liquor Permit and Pass (Haryana Amendment) Rules, 2023
These new regulations bring about important changes to the existing liquor permit and pass system in the state, ensuring better monitoring and regulation of the sale and consumption of alcohol.
Stock limits on Wheat applicable to Wholesalers/Traders, Retailers, Big Chain Retailers and Processors
The Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits, and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2023 has been implemented with immediate effect from 12th June, 2023, and will remain in force until 31st March, 2024. This is intended to manage food security and curb hoarding and unscrupulous speculation.
