Tea Board Permits Sale of Tea Waste in E-Auctions
Tea Board has decided that it will permit the use of tea waste only for production of instant tea or for export. All other tea waste must either be destroyed or composted by manufacturers. The Tea Board will also sell tea waste through electronic auction. Therefore, all producers have been requested to offer the generated tea waste entirely through auction from April 1, 2024.
Andhra Pradesh Milk Procurement (Protection of Farmer) and Enforcement of Safety of Milk Standards Rules, 2023
This Notification regulates safety of milk standards rules such as standard milk analyzer used for the purpose of determining the quality parameters like fat, SNF and gives results of these parameters within the tolerance range as per standards. The users of Milk Analyzer shall apply for the license to an authorized officer in the prescribed Form No 1 and on a payment of Rs 1000/- for a term of one year. Every Milk Analyzer shall apply for the license within 30days from the date of publication of these rules in the official gazette.
BIS Revises Standards for Meat Products, Slaughter House Equipment and Alcoholic Drinks
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced certain standards for Meat Products, Slaughter House Equipment and Alcoholic Drinks. These notifications were published on January 12, 2024. These standards have been established on January 4, 2024 and December 28, 2023.
FoSCoS Introduces Provision For Updation/ Revision of Annual Return
FBOs who have filed annual returns by May 31 of the next year can revise their returns for a maximum of two times. The last submitted annual return will be considered as final. The provision of revised filing of annual return has come into effect January 6, 2024 for annual returns for FY2022-2023.

The Union Health Minister officially launched the website for the Healthy & Hygienic Food Street initiative and unveiled a brochure outlining the Standard Operating Procedure for these food streets. In addition to this, he also inaugurated 17 civil works, including two Public Health Unit blocks, 54 Chief Minister Sanjeevni Health Clinics, three Integrated Public Health Labs, an Emergency Covid response package, three Community Health Centres, and eight Primary Health Care Centres.

Central Government Opens Window for Ethanol Production Boost
The Central Government has specified that applicants must secure loan disbursal from eligible financial institutions within one year or by June 30, 2024, whichever is later, from the date of in-principle approval by the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD). Additionally, the project must be completed within two years from the date of the disbursement of the first installment of the loan.
