The Electricity (Late Payment Surcharge and Related Matters) Rules, 2022.

As per the rule, Late Payment Surcharge shall be payable on the payment outstanding after the due date at the base rate of Late Payment Surcharge applicable for the period for the first month of default. The rate of Late Payment Surcharge for the successive months of default shall increase by 0.5 per. cent for every month of delay provided that the Late Payment Surcharge shall not be more than three per. cent higher than the base rate at anytime.

MNRE issues advisory for the General Public on PM Kusum Scheme.

The Ministry has strongly advised that people interested in PM-KUSUM Scheme should check the authenticity of the website before providing any personal information or depositing money. Ministry has further advised not to click on any unverified or suspicious link received through Whatsapp/ SMS which claim to be registration portal for the PM-KUSUM scheme.

CEA issues safety advisory to all Thermal Power Generating Utilities.

As per the advisory, Internal Safety Audits must be carried out once a year through cross functional teams/ internal trained staff and records must be maintained. Further, External Safety Audit must be carried out through registered Agencies at a regular periodicity of 2 years and Action Taken Report (ATR) must be prepared & monitored to ensure early closing of pending recommendations. Safety awareness drives must be conducted amongst plant personnel as well as the employees deployed by the Contractors, periodically for the compliance of provisions of safety manuals and to imbibe the safety culture.

PESO launches online paperless module for import of compressed gases in ISO tank containers.

DGFT had notified earlier that the import of hydrofluorocarbons is permitted with an import authorization subject to the recommendation of ozone cell. Therefore all the stakeholders who proposes to import hydrofluorocarbons shall upload import authorization for each ISO tank container along with requisite documents in the online application portal for import of compressed gas in ISO tank container.

Cabinet approves Amendments to the National Policy on Biofuels -2018.

This amendment proposal will pave the way for Make in India drive thereby leading to reduction in import of petroleum products by generation of more and more biofuels. Since many more feedstocks are being allowed for production of biofuels, this will promote the Atmanirbhar Bharat and give an impetus to Prime Minister’s vision of India becoming ‘energy independent’ by 2047.
