Draft Electricity Plan Notification (Amendment) Rules, 2023

Ministry of Power (MoP) has notified the Draft Electricity Plan Notification (Amendment) Rules, 2023. This Draft Amendment was notified on 8th February, 2023. The Draft Amendment seeks to revise the manner of notification of the national electricity plan.

MNRE extends Quality Control Order, 2017 for SPV Inverters

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued a notification extending the Quality Control Order (QCO), 2017 for SPV inverters. The ministry has provided this extension on account of the limited availability of test facilities and in order to provide additional time for compliance with the QCO. Thus the implementation of Quality Control Order, 2017 for SPV inverters (items 4-5) stands extended from 31st December, 2022 till 30th June, 2023.

Electricity (Promoting Renewable Energy Through Green Energy Open Access) Amendment Rules, 2023

The Amendment Rules state that any consumer may elect to purchase green energy either up to a certain percentage of the consumption or its entire consumption. For this purposes, they may place a requisition with their distribution licensee. The distribution licensee shall procure such quantity of green energy and supply it. The consumer shall have the flexibility to give separate requisition for solar and non-solar.

Draft Electricity (Amendment) Rules, 2023

The draft amendment amongst other aspects, seeks to clarify the duration of licences which were previously unregulated. It states that the duration of such licences shall be 25 years from the coming into force of these amendment rules. The concerned stakeholders and the public at large are invited to furnish their comments on the same within 30 days from the date of the notification, i.e. by 17th February, 2023.

NISE issues Skill Development Programme on Design of Solar PV Systems (Online Mode)

The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) has issues a Skill Development Programme on Design of Solar PV Systems (Online Mode). The Programme will take place from 23rd to 25th January, 2023. The programme targets graduate engineers with basic knowledge of electrical concepts; solar entrepreneurs; Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Officials; EPC contractors; MNRE channel partners; Senior Energy Department Officials of Govt. of India and Officers from State Nodal Agencies etc.

IRRS issues Report of its Extended Follow-up Mission to India in June 2022

Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) has issued a report on its extended follow-up mission to India. The mission was held from 9th to 20th June, 2022. The IRRS team concluded that AERB showed a strong commitment and professionalism to ensure that nuclear and radiation safety is implemented in the country. With respect to radiation sources facilities and activities, the IRRS team concluded that AERB generally implements the regulatory process and safety requirements in accordance with the IAEA safety standards.
