Ministry of Coal organises stakeholder consultation to promote “Funding of Commercial Coal Mines in India”

The meet focused on major concerns pertinent to financing of commercial coal mining and solicited feedback/ suggestions from all stakeholders. The Banks present during the meet expressed their willingness and assured  flexibility to finance coal mines subject to demonstration of, among other things, project viability, equity infusion visibility etc. in presence of detailed business plan.

Central Government Introduces Time of Day (ToD) Tariff and Simplification of Smart Metering rules for electricity consumption by users including industrial customers

Tariff during solar hours (duration of eight hours in a day as specified by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission) of the day shall be 10%-20% less than the normal tariff, while the tariff during peak hours will be 10 to 20 percent higher. ToD tariff would be applicable for Commercial and Industrial consumers having Maximum demand of 10 KW and above, from 1st April, 2024 and for all other consumers except agricultural consumers, latest from 1st April, 2025. Time of Day tariff shall be made effective immediately after installation of smart meters, for the consumers with smart meters.

Solar Park Scheme Timeline Extended till FY2025-26

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the timeline of the Solar Park Scheme until the fiscal year 2025-26, specifically until 31st March, 2026. This extension comes without any additional financial implications, ensuring continuity and support for the solar energy sector in India.

Waiver of Inter-State Transmission Charges on transmission of electricity generated from Solar and Wind Energy

According to the present Order, renewable energy projects falling under para 3.1 (i), (ii), and (iii) of the Order dated 23th November, 2021 and in accordance with the Order dated 30th November, 2021 are eligible for the waiver of inter-state transmission charges. These projects, with their scheduled date of commissioning on or before 30th June, 2025, can now benefit from an extension of time granted by the MNRE.

Environment (Protection) Fourth Amendment Rules, 2023

The Amendment Rules now state that the supply of Genset and Genset engine in respect of which purchase order has been received by the manufacturer on or before the 30th June, 2023 shall be permitted up to the 30th June, 2024 as per defined norms.
