The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has issued a public notice seeking feedback on the Draft Supply Code, 2024. This initiative aims to update and streamline existing regulations by replacing older frameworks like the PSERC (Electricity Supply Code and Related Matters) Regulations, 2014, and others.

CERC Conditions For Grant Of Transmission Licence Regulations, 2024

Only entities selected through competitive bidding or chosen by the government for specific projects can apply for a license for inter-state transmission of electricity. Distribution licensees and bulk consumers developing dedicated lines are exempt from seeking such licences. Licensees are prohibited from engaging in electricity trading.

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has announced changes to the committee responsible for verifying local content claims in power sector procurement. The present order announces the reconstitution of the committee responsible for independently verifying self-declarations and audit reports submitted by companies claiming local content.

On-boarding of Solar PV Manufacturers on DCR Verification Portal

The DCR Verification Portal aims to ensure that domestically manufactured solar panels are used in government-backed solar projects. All manufacturers enlisted under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) are required to register their facilities on the portal and start entering relevant data. This data will be crucial for future DCR verification.

Draft CERC Indian Electricity Grid Code (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024

The draft amendments inter-alia provide that generating stations other than Renewable Energy Generating Stations (REGS) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) cannot inject infirm power for more than one year from the date they first synchronize with the grid. The CERC is inviting comments, suggestions, and objections from stakeholders and interested individuals on the proposed amendments. Submissions must be received by July 15, 2024.

New Guidelines Streamline Compensation for Transmission Line Right-of-Way

Compensation applies only to high-voltage transmission lines (66 kV and above). It does not apply to sub-transmission lines or distribution lines. District authorities will determine compensation based on land value. States can offer higher compensation rates if needed. Additionally, alternate compensation options are available in areas with Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) policies.
