FSSAI issues Protocol on Methods of Fortificant Testing for Rice
The entire sample must be ground into a homogenous mixture before weighing the sample for analysis. The remaining quantity of tested samples should be preserved for at least 3 months from the date of reporting. The samples shall be stored in refrigerators at temperatures of 5 to 10 degree celsius.
Gas Cylinders (Amendment) Rules, 2022
The amendment provides that all the high pressure cylinders and Cryogenic containers used for filling of Non-Toxic, Non-Flammable Gases and Liquids shall have permanent and tamper proof marking in form of Bar Code or RFID or QR code or any means of electronic identification number at conspicuous place on cylinders and containers.
Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices (Quality Control) Order, 2023
The Order further provides that Retro-reflective Devices should conform to IS/ISO 6742-2:2015. They shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
DGS issues circular on Collection of data from all Indian Ships
The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has issued a circular regarding the collection of data from all Indian Ships irrespective of size. This data is sought for the Implementation of Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI), Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), Single Use of Plastics, and issuance of Electronic Bulk Mail Delivery Note system (E-BDN) by Bunker Suppliers. The implementation will be verified in the International Safety Management (ISM) audits as applicable to company/ships and non-compliance will be viewed as a very serious issue by the Directorate and may lead to the withdrawal of respective certificates.
IRRS issues Report of its Extended Follow-up Mission to India in June 2022
Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) has issued a report on its extended follow-up mission to India. The mission was held from 9th to 20th June, 2022. The IRRS team concluded that AERB showed a strong commitment and professionalism to ensure that nuclear and radiation safety is implemented in the country. With respect to radiation sources facilities and activities, the IRRS team concluded that AERB generally implements the regulatory process and safety requirements in accordance with the IAEA safety standards.
TRAI releases Consultation Paper on “Data Communication Services between Aircraft and Ground Stations provided by Organizations other than Airports Authority of India”

The Central Electricity Authority (Safety Requirements for Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines) (Amendment) Regulations, 2022.
Safety audit of generating stations shall be periodically carried out every two years by an accreditated third party and the audit report shall be sent to the Authority and the Authority through a designated officer may verify such reports by physical site inspections as and when required.

The Central Government with a view to increase production of ethanol and its supply under Ethanol Blended with Petrol (EBP) Programme, especially in the surplus season and thereby to improve the liquidity position of the sugar mills enabling them to clear cane price arrears of the farmers opened a window for six months w.e.f. 22.04.2022 which is now being extended for another six months for inviting fresh applications from those project proponents who have acquired land for ethanol project and obtained Environmental Clearance (EC) for enhancement of their existing ethanol distillation capacity or to set up new distillery for producing 1st Generation (1G) ethanol from feed stocks such as cereals (rice, wheat, barley, corn & sorghum), sugarcane (including sugar, sugar syrup, sugarcane juice, B-heavy molasses, C-heavy molasses), sugar beet etc.
Draft Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2022
Each machine and electrical equipment specified in the order shall conform to the labeling and marking requirements, comply with the safety instructions or symbols, if any required to be labeled or marked on the machinery or electrical equipment and shall also bear the standard mark under a license from the Bureau.
