The Central Government has introduced amendments to the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. The newly notified regulations, titled “Plastic Waste Management (Second Amendment) Rules, 2023,” aim to strengthen the management and regulation of plastic waste in the country.

Ministry of Environment Implements Rules for Effective Waste Tyre Management
All registered producers on the Waste Tyre EPR Portal are required to submit their Annual Returns for the fiscal year 2022-23 and Quarterly Returns for the first and second quarters of the fiscal year 2023-24. These returns should be submitted on or before the end of the month succeeding the quarter to which the return pertains, through the designated EPR portal.

Directives for Cleaner Public Transport Services in the NCR
The CAQM has been actively engaging with NCR states to develop comprehensive action plans aimed at transitioning to cleaner and more efficient bus services in the region. The ultimate goal is to have electric vehicles (EVs) for all bus services in the NCR within five years, with the medium-term objective of adopting EVs, compressed natural gas (CNG), and BS-VI diesel buses within three years.
Inclusion of Head of Accounts for E-receipts for Disaster Management Department through GRIPS of IFMS Portal
The Government of West Bengal has issued a memorandum for the inclusion of the head of accounts for Disaster Management for online and offline receipts in its Government Receipt Portal System. The head of accounts will be included through all participating banks and payment gateways of e-SBI.
Green Credit Rules, 2023
To obtain green credits for these activities, a person or entity must register their activity with the Administrator. The application for registration is made electronically through a website established by the Central Government. Once the application is received, the designated agency verifies the activity, and upon successful verification, the Administrator grants a certificate of green credit.
