Rationalizing Parking Charges For Private Vehicles In NCR
The CAQM has urged Urban Local Bodies to disincentivize private vehicles by way of rationalizing the parking charges. This endeavor shall be completed and implemented expeditiously, but not later than 30.08.2024 and a compliance report must be submitted to the Commission.
CAQM Steps Up Fight Against Paddy Stubble Burning
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas has issued a directive emphasizing stricter measures to control paddy stubble burning during the 2024 harvest season. The directive also urges the Government of NCT of Delhi and the state government of Rajasthan to make significant efforts towards eliminating paddy stubble burning during the upcoming season. All relevant states are required to submit monthly status reports on their actions taken based on the plan’s timelines and milestones.
Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2024
Every manufacturer of commodities made from plastic or part thereof shall ensure processing of the pre-consumer plastic waste generated in the form of reject or discard material at the stage of manufacturing and such manufacturer shall report to the State Pollution Control Board or Pollution Control Committee concerned.
Government Introduces Amendments to Hazardous and Other Wastes Management Rules
One significant amendment includes the addition of clause 22A, which defines “deposition centers” as specified in the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, for the collection of domestic hazardous wastes. These deposition centers must obtain authorization from the State Pollution Control Board or the Pollution Control Committee concerned. These centers are also required to maintain records of providing domestic hazardous waste to the actual user or disposal facility and file annual returns to the respective authorities.
Notice Issued for Registration of PIBOs and PWPs On Centralized EPR Portal for Plastic Packaging
A notice has been issued to all PIBOs & PWPs to ensure compliance with the regulations. PIBOs & PWPs who have not yet applied for registration are directed to submit their registration applications, complete in all respects, on the EPR Portal by March 31, 2024. Guidance Manual and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for registration of PIBOs/PWPs, uploaded on the EPR Portal, are available for reference.
