Goa SPCB Directs Continuous Monitoring In Industries & Other Establishments
According to GSPCB directions, steel plants in the Red & Orange Category must install Online Continuous Stack Emission Monitoring Systems(OCEMS) and Continuous Ambient Air Monitoring stations by 31st August 2024. Additionally, industries, establishments, hotels, common STPs, commercial establishments, residential complexes, and educational institutions with ETPs of 50 KLD and above, and STPs of 100 KLD and above, must install an online water quality monitoring system by 31st August 2024.

Clarifications Issued on Battery Recycling and Labeling Requirements
The requirement for “minimum use of domestically recycled materials” in battery manufacturing applies to any type of material obtained from recycling waste products within India. For imported batteries or battery packs, the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) registration number can be displayed on either the equipment containing the battery or the packaging of the equipment containing the battery.
Extended Deadline for Battery Recycling Compliance and Reporting
Batteries covered under the 21 products listed in Schedule I of the old E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016, will follow the compliance timelines set under those rules for FY 2022-23. Compliance targets for all other batteries placed on the market in FY 2022-23 will be June 30, 2024.
Producers Urged To Purchase EPR Credits For Battery Recycling
The MoEF&CC urges all producers to engage with registered recyclers listed on the National Dashboard. Producers can purchase the necessary EPR credits from these recyclers.
Government Extends Deadline for Filing E-Waste Returns
The MoEF&CC has now extended the deadline for registered entities to file quarterly and annual returns on their e-waste management activities. The last date for filing these reports for the 2023-2024 financial year is extended to June 30, 2024.
