Odisha SPCB issued public notice to E-waste bulk consumer and Producers

The State Pollution Control Board of Odisha vide notice dated 30th August 2019 has reiterated the responsibility of a bulk consumer of electronic equipment whose turnover is more than one crore or has employed more than 20 employees shall ensure that the e-waste generated by them is channelized through Dealer of authorized producer/ dismantler/ recycler/ service provider. The notice also emphasizes the responsibility of producers.

Ease of doing business initiated by Andhra Pradesh Pollution control board

n order to improve the consent management system and to make consent processing more transparent and speedier, AP Pollution Control Board has launched Online Consent Management and Monitoring System (OCMMS).
Consent for Establishment and Consent for operation can be obtained through Single desk portal. Consent Orders will be uploaded on the portal. THe validity period of Consent has been increased for each category and auto-renewal of CFO is now available on self-certification. Time frame for processing of consents has also been reduced.

Increase in number of working days for distilleries – Amendment in Environmental Clearance

MoEF has issued clarification on amendment in environmental clearance relation to the increase in number of working days for distilleries.
As per the clarification, PCBs shall monitor emission standards for boilers before issuing Consent to Establish/Operate. The Projects and distilleries which involve installation of incineration boilers and which have covered bio-composting operations for the end treatment of spent wash to achieve zero liquid discharge, do not require amendment in the existing environmental clearances to increase number of working days, subject to compliance to Standard Operating Procedure formulated by CPCB.

Haryana Pollution Control Board Mandates Requirement for Adequate Pollution Control Devices

The Haryana Pollution Control Board has ordered that units which are closed by the Board due to the non-compliance of the prescribed standards for discharge of pollutants and due to the inadequacy of pollution control devices shall not be allowed to operate and also, shall not be given any time for modification or upgradation of devices with the curtailment of production proportionate to the capacity of existing devices

Telangana State Pollution Control Board Amendment and inspection mandates

Telangana State Pollution Control Board on 6 May, 2019 as a part of the initiative to ease the way of doing business, amends the central inspection framework for surprise inspections to limit the scope of inspection to the Checklist prescribed in the Circular. Further such surprise inspection can be carried out only with the permission of the HOD of the PCB.

West Bengal Pollution Control Board Notifies Comprehensive Inspection Policy

The West Bengal Pollution Control Board has issued a Comprehensive Inspection Policy to assist and ease the investments and new start-ups in the State. The policy undertakes a computerized system for allocation of inspectors and paves way for establishing Agencies for Third Party Certification which will monitor industrial emission, wastewater and solid waste discharge industrial units classified under Orange category by the Board.
