NMC Issues Strict Guidelines for Medical Colleges’ Faculty Attendance
All medical colleges have been informed to adhere to the UG-MSR 2023 and MSMER 2023 guidelines. Failure to comply with these standards or any deficiencies will result in the rejection of proposals for seat increases, renewal of permissions, recognition of MBBS degrees, and continuation of recognition. Such colleges will not be permitted to admit students for the Academic Year 2024-25. The NMC has also issued a list of colleges and institutions reflecting attendance deficiencies.
NMC Publishes Urgent Notice On Admission Details for Academic Year 2023-24
To facilitate the verification process for students and ensure the accuracy of records, the NMC has made the list of admitted students for the Academic Year 2023-24 available. Students studying MBBS and those admitted for graduate-level medical education are urged to review the list promptly.
Foreign Higher Educational Institution prohibited from offering any programmes in India without the prior approval of the Commission
It has also come to the notice of UGC that some EdTech companies are giving advertisements in newspapers social media/television etc. offering degree and diploma programmes in Online modes in association with some foreign universities/institutions. Such a franchisee arrangement is not permissible and any such programme/degree shall not have UGC recognition.
UGC has issued an appeal to Higher Educational Institutions that have not constituted an Internal Complaint Committee
The UGC has repeatedly advised HEIs to constitute an Internal complaint committee in the institutions under their administrative control to deal with gender-based violence and conduct gender sensitization programmes. The HEIs have also been requested to display the names and contact details of the members of the ICC on notice boards in the institutions and their website.
NMC Holds Refresher Training for Medical College Assessors
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has successfully concluded a refresher training session for its assessors. This training aims at fulfilling the broad goals of furthering quality standards in medical education. This training was held on December 14, 2023 and a press release was issued on that same day.
PCI Opens Portal for Approvals for 2024-2025
Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a notice on its approval process for academic year 2024-2025. PCI has opened its portal from December 14, 2023 till December 31, 2023. The portal can be accessed by new or existing institutions applying for continuation of approval, introduction of new courses, increase in admissions and other services.
PCI to Implement Aadhaar Authentication in DIGI-PHARMed Portal
The PCI envisions the implementation of Aadhaar authentication in its DIGI-PHARMed Portal. This will propel total digitalization of registration or enrollment services. It will also ensure authentication of end users such as pharmacists, faculties, students and pharmacy institutions. It will also bolster user satisfaction , promote ease of doing business, processing of registration applications. Ultimately, the PCI is of the opinion, that the new process will enhance productivity and transparency in administrative functioning.

The Directorate General Of Health Services (DGHS) has published a list of candidates that have been selected for Medical Records Training. The notification covers Medical Record Officers (MRO) and Medical Record Technician (MRT) Training Courses.
