Karnataka Government Issues Draft Amendments To Education Rules, 2024
The amendments extend recognition validity from five to ten years for the first renewal and make it permanent thereafter, subject to certain conditions. Additionally, a new provision for processing fees allows up to three submissions within the same academic year before requiring a fresh application with an additional non-refundable fee. Stakeholders can submit objections or suggestions within fifteen days of the amendments’ publication in the Official Gazette.
PCI Issues Guidelines For Inspectors Towards Inspection Process Of Academic Year 2024-2025
The inspections will be carried out by specially empaneled inspectors. The inspections shall be conducted entirely through a mobile application (PCI Inspection App) available on Google Play Store for Android devices. Inspectors shall verify the adequacy of infrastructural facilities, Human Resources and other facilities as specified under Education Regulations for various pharmacy
Programmes.
India Combats Antibiotic Resistance with National Action Plan
The use of antimicrobials has grown manifold in the recent years. Easy access of antimicrobials and the haste to start them in any suspected infective aetiology is primarily responsible of their misuse, and in turn lead to increased anti-microbial resistance (AMR). Identification of the clinical problem and making a differential diagnosis at the bed side will help in deciding of whether to start or not to start any antimicrobial.

Karnataka Government Amends Compulsory Service Rules For Medical Graduates
The amendments include adding definitions for exemption and salary, establishing a Grievance Committee, detailing the process for assigning candidates to compulsory service, prioritizing candidates during counseling, and outlining computerized counseling procedures. The Competent Authority may grant permission for higher studies upon submitting an affidavit committing to the remaining part of compulsory service.
Fee Refund Policy 2024-25
A full refund of fees shall be made by the HEls on account of all cancellations of admissions/migrations of students up to 30 September 2024 and with a deduction of not more than Rs. 1,000, as a processing fee, up to 31 October 2024.
National Award to Teachers 2024
All the Higher Education Institutions are once again requested to widely disseminate it among the stakeholders and also to nominate deserving candidates for the awards as part of institutional nomination and facilitate the faculty members with timely issuing of necessary documentations to be uploaded while applying online. It is informed that the portal, www.awards.gov. in for accepting nominations shall be live up to dated 20.06.2024 only.

Karnataka General Services (Pre-University Education) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2023
The Karnataka government has amended the Karnataka General Services (Pre-University Education) (Recruitment) Rules, 2013. It outlines appointment criteria for various positions: Joint Directors must have three years of service as Deputy Directors, while Principals require ten years of service as Lecturers, with 25% appointed through direct recruitment and 75% through promotion.

Higher Education Institutions are required to maintain a functional website to provide relevant information to stakeholders. The information disclosed on the website should be easily accessible to everyone without any need for registration or login. Additionally, there should be a ‘search’ facility available for easy navigation.
