Higher Education Institutions are requested to raise awareness among students, faculty, and staff about the Good Samaritan Law and the importance of assisting accident victims without any fear. Additionally, institutions are encouraged to raise awareness in the local community about this issue.

Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 to be observed by HEIs
UGC has directed Higher Education Institutions (HEls) to ensure that Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 (SHS 2024) will be observed from 14th September, 2024 to 1st October, 2024 with the theme of ‘Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskaar Swachhata’, which will culminate in the Swachh Bharat Diwas celebrations on 2nd October, 2024.

Colleges are requested to furnish the details of SGRCs constituted by them to their affiliating Universities. Universities, in turn, are requested to furnish the details of the SGRCs constituted by them and by their affiliated institutions by 24th September 2024.
Nationwide Launch of Tobacco Cessation Centers in Medical Colleges
The virtual inauguration ceremony will be held on September 24, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The ceremony will be presided over by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare. All medical institutions must make arrangements for the establishment of Tobacco Cessation Centers (TCCs) in accordance with the Operational Guidelines, display the inauguration plaque outside the TCC and facilitate the virtual inauguration.

National Medical Commission Clarifies Dissertation Or Thesis Submission Requirements
The clarification addresses concerns raised by students and institutions regarding the requirement to submit the dissertation before appearing in the final examination. Students must submit their dissertations to the university through their Head of Department (HoD) and Dean. However, students will not be barred from appearing in the final examination if they have not obtained the HoD’s approval for their dissertation.
National Medical Commission Releases Revised CBME Guidelines
In response to concerns raised by stakeholders, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has updated the Disability Guidelines in Annexure-14 of the CBME Guidelines 2024. Additionally, the CBME Topics and Competencies Volume-I, II, and III have also been revised to reflect the latest medical knowledge and best practices.
