SEBI introduces Information database and Repository on Municipal Bonds

SEBI had organised an outreach programme on Municipal Bonds and Municipal Finance on 20th and 21st January, 2023 at New Delhi. This programme formed a part of SEBI’s initiative to develop Bond markets. The event also witnessed the launching of an Information Database including a repository of information pertaining to Municipal Bonds on the SEBI website. The database is intended not merely to serve as a guide but also to create awareness about municipal debt securities.

IRDAI notifies Categorisation and Classification of Sovereign Green Bonds

The objective of the issue of Sovereign Green Bonds (SGrBs) was to reduce the carbon intensity of the economy. It is also intended to be a measure for achieving Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Climate Change Accord, 2015 connected to climate change, mitigation, adaptation, finance, and preservation of the environment. The IRDAI has listed out some benefits of SGrBs and encourages insurers to invest in them.

International Financial Services Centres Authority (Investment by International Financial Service Centre Insurance Office) Regulations, 2022

The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has issued the International Financial Services Centres Authority (Investment by International Financial Service Centre Insurance Office) Regulations, 2022. The regulations aim to create a regulatory framework and formulate processes related to investment of assets by an International Financial Service Centre Insurance Office (IIO).

Stock exchanges permitted to launch multiple contracts in same commodity

The Exchanges are advised to take steps to make necessary amendments to the relevant bye-laws, rules and regulations for the implementation of the same and to bring the provisions of this circular to the notice of the members of the Exchange and also to disseminate the same on their website.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (Registrars to an Issue and Share Transfer Agents) (Amendment) Regulations, 2023

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has notified the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Registrars to an Issue and Share Transfer Agents) (Amendment) Regulations, 2023. These Regulations will amend the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Registrars to an Issue and Share Transfer Agents) Regulations, 1993. The Amended Regulations were notified by SEBI on 9th January, 2023 and are effective from that date. The amended regulations inter alia state that a registrar to an issue and share transfer agent who has been granted a certificate of registration will have to pay a fee to keep its registration in force.
