Ministry of Steel issues Press Release on Crude Steel Capacity Growth
The crude steel capacity of the country has increased from 137.97 million tonnes (MT) in 2017-18 to 154.06 MT in 2021-22 and is envisaged to reach 300 MT by 2030-31. The production capacity of 300 MT shall be achieved by the private and public sectors expanding their production capacities.
BIS publicises Enforcement Dates of QCOs
The BIS has issued information on upcoming QCOs that are due for implementation. This advance information is intended to create better awareness. The present notification provides the status of enforcement of 95 QCOs in an tabular form.
Bicycles- Retro Reflective Devices (Quality Control) Order, 2023
The Order further provides that Retro-reflective Devices should conform to IS/ISO 6742-2:2015. They shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
TRAI releases recommendations on ‘Rating of Buildings or Areas for Digital Connectivity’
The emphasis of these recommendations is on providing a framework for creation of an ecosystem for Digital Connectivity Infrastructure (DCI). This DCI will be an intrinsic part of building development plan similar to other building services such as water, electricity or Fire Safety System.
Draft Quality Control Orders (QCO) in respect of Linoleum and Rubber based products industry
DPIIT is currently formulating Quality Control Orders/ Technical Regulations for different products in pursuance of the Prime Minister’s call for “Zero- Defect- Zero Effect” manufacturing. Therefore, it has notified QCOs for 16 products.
IRRS issues Report of its Extended Follow-up Mission to India in June 2022
Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) has issued a report on its extended follow-up mission to India. The mission was held from 9th to 20th June, 2022. The IRRS team concluded that AERB showed a strong commitment and professionalism to ensure that nuclear and radiation safety is implemented in the country. With respect to radiation sources facilities and activities, the IRRS team concluded that AERB generally implements the regulatory process and safety requirements in accordance with the IAEA safety standards.
DoT formulates the Indian Telegraph (Infrastructure Safety) Rules 2022
The Central government has envisioned fulfilling the communication needs of the citizens and enterprises through establishment of a resilient, secure, accessible and affordable Digital Communications Infrastructure and Services. The Press Information Bureau has publicised these Rules by its bulletin dated 6th January, 2023. In order to address the issues of safety to the existing telecom infrastructure, the Government has formulated the Indian Telegraph (Infrastructure Safety) Rules, 2022 published in the Gazette of India on 3rd January, 2023.
MeiTY introduces four new schemes for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors
The incentive will be available to the approved projects under the scheme for the investment made within 5 years from the date of acknowledgment of the application subject to capital expenditure meeting the minimum threshold value and commencement of commercial production, and compliance to other terms and conditions stipulated in Scheme /Guidelines / Approval Letter.
Ministry of Civil Aviation issues guidelines for PLI incentive scheme to support indigenous drone industry
The guidelines had been notified on 29 November 2022 for the information of all the stakeholders and the public. The operational guidelines for the implementation of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) incentive scheme to support indigenous drone industry have now been finalised.
