Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Rules, 2024

The Central Government has issued a notification amending the Coastal Aquaculture Authority Rules, 2024. The amendment aims to introduce a comprehensive regulatory framework for various aspects of coastal aquaculture. This notification was published on December 4, 2024.

PM-KISAN: Empowering India’s Farmers

The PM-KISAN scheme, launched in 2019, has emerged as a cornerstone of the Indian government’s efforts to support farmers. This direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme provides financial assistance to eligible landholding farmers, irrespective of their landholding size.

The “World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector” aims to construct godowns at the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) level. The pilot project has successfully constructed 11 godowns in 11 states: Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Telangana, Tripura, and Rajasthan.

Government Promotes Bio-Fertilizers for Sustainable Agriculture

Biofertilizers are promoted under Paramparagat Krishi Vikash Yojana (PKVY) and Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) schemes. Under PKVY scheme, farmers are provided financial assistance of Rs 15000/ ha for 3 years through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for on-farm and off-farm organic inputs including bio-fertilizer. Under MOVCDNER, financial assistance @ Rs 32500/ ha for 3 years is provided to farmers for off farm /on –farm organic inputs including bio-fertilizer.

Government Initiatives to Boost Milk Production in India

The Government of India has implemented several initiatives to enhance milk production and productivity of bovine animals in India. These initiatives are aimed at improving the genetic makeup of indigenous breeds, providing quality breeding services, and ensuring better healthcare for livestock.

National Mission on Natural Farming

Farmers will be provided with an easy simple certification system and dedicated common branding to provide access to market their natural farming produce. Real time geo-tagged & referenced monitoring of NMNF implementation shall be done through an online portal.

New Requirements for Importing Coffee Beans Into India

All imported coffee beans must now undergo fumigation with either Methyl Bromide or Phosphine to eliminate any potential Coffee Berry Borers. The fumigation treatment details must be endorsed on the Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the exporting or re-exporting country.
