The Central Drugs Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued an advisory requiring adherence to the Revised Guidelines- 2022 for Recovery of Processing Charges for Blood and Blood Components issued by NBTC. This advisory has been addressed to all Drug Controllers of all states and union territories.

The advisory states that during the Drugs Consultative Committee meeting it was opined that blood is not for sale. It was stated that it is only for supply and hence the blood centres shall charge only processing costs.

Hence, blood centres are urged to comply with the NBTC revised guidelines for recovery of processing charges for blood and blood components.
