BIS Revises Standards for Solar Water Heating Systems, Valves, Fuel Systems for Vehicles & Energy Management Systems

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has revised certain standards for Solar Water Heating Systems, Valves, Fuel Systems for Vehicles & Energy Management Systems. These notifications were published on December 11, 2023.

The revised standards are as follows:

  • Guide for Selection, Installation and Maintenance of Air Compressor Plants with Operating Pressures up to 10 Bars (Second Revision)
  • Graphical Symbols for Pipelines and Instrumentation Diagrams (First Revision)
  • Locations of By-Pass and Drain Connections for Valves (First Revision)

It has also revised the following standards on Solar Water Heating Systems:

  • Solar Water Heating Systems — Code of Practice (First Revision) and
  • Solar Heating — Domestic Water Heating Systems Part 1 Performance Rating Procedure Using Indoor Test Methods (First Revision)

Furthermore, it has revised/ introduced the following standards on valves:

  • Spring Loaded Safety Relief Valves — Specification Part 2 Testing (First Revision) and
  • Tubeless Tyres — Valves and Components Part 2 Clamp-In Tubeless Tyre valve Test Method

Additionally, the BIS has also introduced 15 standards of ‘Road Vehicles — Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Fuel System Components’.

It has modified/ introduced the following standards of Energy Management Systems:

  • Energy Management Systems — Evaluating Energy Performance using Energy Performance Indicators and Energy Baselines (First Revision)
  • Energy Management and Energy Savings — Guidance for Net Zero Energy in Operations Using an ISO 50001 Energy Management System
  • Energy Management Systems — Assessing Energy Management Using ISO 50001 : 2018

All of the above standards stand established on November 22, 2023. However, the previous version of the standards, if any, stand withdrawn from December 22, 2023.
