BIS Revises Standards for Meat Products, Slaughter House Equipment and Alcoholic Drinks

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced certain standards for Meat Products, Slaughter House Equipment and Alcoholic Drinks. These notifications were published on January 12, 2024.

Some of the revised standards are as follows:

  • Meat and Meat Products — Basic Requirements for a Stall for Sale of Meat of Small and Large Animals (Second Revision)
  • Slaughter House Equipment — Electrical Stunning Tongs for Pigs — Specification (Second Revision)
  • Sheep Dressing Hooks and Sheep Spreaders
  • Meat Inspection Table —Specification (First Revision)
  • Offal Handling Table for Small Animals and Inedible Offals Trolley
  • Hog Gambrels and Gambrels for Sheep and Goats
  • Cashew and Coconut Fenny
  • Alcoholic Drinks; Rum, Gin, Whiskey and Country Spirit

These standards have been established on January 4, 2024 and December 28, 2023.
