BIS Revises Standards for IT, Petroleum Products & GPS

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has revised certain standards for IT, Petroleum Products & GPS. These notifications were published on March 26, 2024.

Some of the revised standards for Information Technology are as follows:

  1. Information Security, Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection
  2. Coding of Machine Readable Characters (MICR and OCR) for Information Processing
  3. Unified Digital Infrastructure Unified Last Mile Communication Protocols Stack
  4. Learning, Education and Training

The standards enumerated at serial number 1 & 2 above were established on March 19, 2024. The previous versions of these standards, if any shall stand withdrawn on April 19, 2024. Likewise, the standards enumerated at serial number 3 & 4 above were established on March 14, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from April 13, 2024.

Moreover, BIS has also issued standards on the following:

  • Corrosion of Metals and Alloys
  • Data Quality Part 1 Overview
  • Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS)

These standards were established on March 19, 2024. The previous versions of these standards, if any shall stand withdrawn on April 19, 2024.

Conversely, BIS has issued a notification withdrawing the standard on Method of Testing Air-Setting Refractory Mortars. This withdrawal is effective from March 20, 2024.
