BIS Revises Standards for Footwear and Textiles

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced certain standards for footwear and textiles. These notifications were published on January 10, 2024.

Some of the revised standards are as follows:

  • Sandal and Slippers — Specification (First Revision)
  • Hawai Chappal — Specification (Third Revision)
  • Sports Footwear Part 1 General Purpose (First Revision)
  • Textiles — Polyester Continuous Filament Fully Drawn Yarns — Specification (First Revision)
  • Textiles — Polyester Staples Fibres — Specification (First Revision)
  • Textiles — 100 Percent Polyester Spun Grey and White Yarns — Specification (Second Revision)
  • Textiles — Polyester Textured Yarn — Specification
  • Textiles — Light Weight Jute Sacking Bags for Packing 50 Kg Mustard Seed, Niger Seed and Ragi — Specification

These standards have been established on January 4, 2024 and their previous versions will stand withdrawn as per the dates mentioned in the notification.
